As Senior University Chaplain and Dean of Chapel at the University of Chester, Gill leads a multi-faith chaplaincy team that is focused on the care and belonging of people of all faiths and none. Chaplaincy is based in the Community Hub on Exton Park, a wellbeing and creative space for students and staff that includes a vibrant, food-growing garden.

Gill has spent most of her career in the NHS as a speech and language therapist, working with adults in general hospital settings. Healthcare and wellbeing remain a keen area of interest. Gill has a long-term commitment to faith-based, urban engagement projects, founding the charity Night Church Chester in 2010, a safe and inclusive sacred space in the night-time economy. She is also a member of a small Urban Expression community in Ellesmere Port. In 2018, Gill was ordained as a Pioneer Minister in the Church of England and spent her curacy in Liverpool before joining the University of Chester in 2020.

Gill completed her PhD in 2023, exploring how performative sacred values can be enablers of socio-ecological, place-based transformation. Gill received a scholarship from the William Temple Foundation for her PhD and remains actively involved with the Foundation as a William Temple Research Fellow.
