The University of Chester has a long tradition of educating and training people to work in the Counselling and Psychotherapy and Psychological Trauma professions. This information session will cover our Doctor of Professional Studies (DProf) courses in Counselling & Psychotherapy and Psychological Trauma.

Our DProfs (advanced doctoral qualifications) are designed for professionals who want to undertake applied, workplace-based research and address real-world challenges whilst advancing their professional careers. They offer students the opportunity to explore a range of research methodologies and professional debates relevant to their own research interests. Students will be engaged in reflecting on their own practice whilst developing their research interests and writing for different audiences.

The research phase will involve a large-scale research project with a critical literature review, an appropriate methodology to address the research question and sound methods of gathering and analysing data. Conclusions and outcomes of this research will have the potential to impact both the academic community and their sphere of practice. Students will additionally be encouraged to pursue presenting at conferences, and to conduct dialogue with academic practitioners and researchers at the forefront of the counselling/ psychotherapy professions.

If you are interested in studying with us, please join our online information event to find out more. If you would like to make any enquiries ahead of the event, please feel free to contact the course Programme Leader, Christina Buxton.
