Teach Cheshire Alliance
Working in partnership with the University of Chester, Teach Cheshire immerses you into wider school life, with the opportunity to build up strong relationships with the staff and students in each placement school.
About Teach Cheshire Alliance
You will spend time in two different partnership schools; term one and three being in your main placement school and term two being in a contrasting school.
During the course, you can expect:
- Weekly meetings with a well-qualified specialist subject mentor to help with lesson planning and delivery
- Fortnightly meetings with a professional mentor to ensure you develop a wider awareness of the role of the teacher, for example by supporting a form or engaging in extra-curricular activities
- A study of current, challenging educational issues
- A thorough programme of ongoing professional development and careers advice
- Opportunities for reflective practice and research
- Experience in two different schools and different age ranges, 5-11 in primary and 11-18 in secondary
The team of experienced and enthusiastic mentors will be with you every step of the way. Whilst on placement, your school will offer a rewarding programme of CPD tailored to your needs. In addition, there are a number of joint development days, each held in a different Teach Cheshire school giving you the chance to meet all the trainees on the programme and experience a number of different contexts. This combined with the work covered at the University to help you learn about effective teaching and learning, behaviour management, curriculum planning and assessment strategies.
Teach Cheshire are proud to be supporting the development of the next generation of teachers and aspiring, leaders. You will be joining an established community of teaching professionals, who are committed to using research and evidence-based practice to support the initial training of our student teachers.
