Associate Professor Andy Connell
School of Education Director of External Relations Head of Department
Andy is an Associate Professor, in the School of Education, largely based at University Centre Shrewsbury. He is the School of Education Director of External Relations (marketing, recruitment, digital media, social communications). Andy has a great deal of experience in Initial Teacher Education (ITE) within Higher Education (HE) and a national profile in ITE, through his leadership of Subject Associations. Andy was a teacher before moving into HE. He has contributed to and edited several books on the teaching of Computing/ICT.
Andy has taught on a variety of Undergraduate ITE and Education programmes and on primary and secondary PGCE programmes. He also taught modules on a Masters course in Computer Science..
Andy is currently researching Catholic Culture and has research interests in ITE Coaching and Mentoring; Pedagogy of Computing Education; HE ITE leadership.
