I am the Programme Leader for the MA Dyslexia Research and Practice, MA Dyscalculia Research and Practice and the stand alone module, Specialist Assessor for Assessing Access Arrangements. I am a fully qualified teacher and hold Fellowship (FHEA) for teaching and learning in higher education. I have a Master's degree in Education, specialising in dyslexia, and hold the British Dyslexia Association’s AMBDA qualification for both dyslexia and dyscalculia. I hold a current Assessment Practicing Certificate (APC) and sit as an observer member on the SASC committee board.

I started my career as a qualified secondary school teacher before training as a specialist dyslexia teacher and assessor. I have worked in a range of settings, both primary and secondary, carrying out formal diagnostic assessments, specialist teaching and exam access arrangements. I am passionate about creating an inclusive educational climate for all students and work to the philosophy that a “dyslexic-friendly classroom is a pupil friendly classroom”.

Our MA Dyslexia and Dyscalculia programmes are designed to meet the requirements set out by the BDA, meaning the work you complete will earn you a Masters qualification and allow you to gain formal BDA qualifications to teach and assess. The programmes offer the opportunity for practical, hands on experiences, putting theory into practice and allowing you to make a tangible difference to your students from day 1.
