I’m a sociologist and political ecologist with research interests in migration studies, racism and anti-racism, political economy, the social and environmental history of the United Kingdom and British Empire, climate change, natural capital and ecosystem services. In addition to my teaching role at the University of Chester I am currently employed on an EU funded LIFE project, focused on species recovery, river restoration and connecting people with nature in South Cumbria. I am also providing research support for Kendal Museum’s ‘Reimagining the World Wildlife Gallery’ community engagement project; and have recently set up a staff-student collaborative research project with students at the University of Chester interested in researching Chester’s links with the transatlantic slave trade.
