Criminology BSc (Hons)

"How engaging the lecturers are makes the Criminology course even more interesting."
I chose to study Criminology at Chester because the modules really stood out to me. They seemed so interesting (which they are!) and it linked to what I wanted to do in the future. The fact it is coursework-based, so no exams, really helped – for me it's a much better way of being assessed and lecturers can give support.
What I enjoy most is how supportive lecturers are, especially during assignment season. It can be a stressful time, but help is given so quickly when you ask for it. How engaging the lecturers are makes the Criminology course even more interesting. Furthermore, the slides feature sources, which can go towards assignments, and quotes by authors which can be helpful. Everything is walking distance to lecture halls and the library, which makes everything much easier.
I'm hoping to work in the police or criminal justice system or genuinely just helping others. This has been something I've wanted to do before university and Criminology has made me want to help others even more. Each module is so different from the rest, so it is interesting to look at different perspectives. Such as, youth justice to the policing system in society, to how policing used to be in the 18th and 19th centuries. Criminology has opened up other ideas for me as well as the police, such as doing a Master’s or maybe even my PhD. It can open many doors to other careers.
