Guy Hindle
LecturerI served in the Cheshire Constabulary for 30 years from 1986 to 2016 rising through the ranks from Constable to Assistant Chief Constable. My main interest was in investigative work and I spent most of my career in the CID, including managing major and serious crime. I also had experience in uniform operations, especially firearms command.
I held the National lead for two elements of policing; intelligence management systems, and the disclosure of unused material. Both of these elements required significant research to underpin a meaningful practical approach to policing at the front end. During my service I undertook a BA in business and an MSc in organisational strategy, using that academic knowledge to help me navigate the most demanding and fulfilling career I could ever have wished for.
Since retirement I have become a regular volunteer at my local hospice and am the Chair of trustees there. That role is deeply important to me and helps me to retain a strong sense of perspective. Work wise, I run my own consultancy as a performance psychologist having undertaken another Masters degree in the psychology of sport and exercise.
In my spare time I am still a competitive sportsman, but only just, and have always been a sports nut! I also go to live music as often as I can. I have a busy and chaotic family life which ensures that I know what matters most in life; not me!
