Jason Clare
Senior LecturerJason is programme leader for Sports Coaching and is an active community sports coach himself, working both within the voluntary club and school environment.
Jason has been with the University for over 25 years and has taught across many aspects of the academic sports provision at the University of Chester from Foundation degree, through undergraduate and to postgraduate level.
An experienced teacher he gained his PGCE post 16 qualification through the University of Manchester, Counselling skills qualification with the University of Liverpool and both undergraduate and postgraduate awards through the University of Chester.
Practically Jason has undertaken research work for Bury Council helping to evaluate the success of their ‘This Girl Can’ interventions from stakeholder’s perspectives, coached for 10 years in Community Rugby League and helped to successfully incorporate primary after-school Handball delivery into our undergraduate degree provision.
He is undertaking postgraduate research into the post-COVID student learning climate from a motivational perspective. Academically, Jason’s experience and interests lie within sport psychology and include; Motivation and Behaviour Change, Person / Athlete Centred approaches and the Coach-Athlete relationship.
