Public Health Nutrition MSc

"The University of Chester stood out to me because of its beautiful location but also from the description of the Public Health Nutrition course."
Two-and-a-half-years ago, I studied in France for a semester. The amount of personal growth and global perspective I gained from that experience had me itching for more opportunities that took me outside of my comfort zone. I knew that studying a Master’s abroad would fulfil that desire.
The University of Chester stood out to me because of its beautiful location but also from the description of the Public Health Nutrition course- my heart started to race. I knew that I could not ignore that feeling.
Arriving in Chester, I was warmly welcomed into a community full of life. From the lecturers being incredibly helpful and truly wanting the best out of their students to the friendly smiles of the natives of Chester, this city was an easy place of transition. Needless to say, doing a Master’s degree in a foreign country does come with its challenges.
As an international student, going to school abroad does not come cheap. I was privileged enough to be given loans from the US government through the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). These loans have ultimately allowed me to be able to attend the University of Chester and in one way or another, allowed me to pursue my passion for learning and strengthen my appreciation of how small the world can be at times.
The uniqueness of the Public Health Nutrition course is that modules are every eight weeks, which allows for a flexible schedule, but these modules lay the foundation for outside independent learning that is required for succeeding in this course. I have found this approach of being a self-motivated learner to be much more beneficial to my learning style, and I can confidently say that I would not want to learn any other way.
Upon completion of this course, I returned to the US and now working with Livea Weight Control Centers in Minnesota as a Lifestyle Consultant. The University of Chester’s Public Health Nutrition course has undoubtably given me the essential skills and knowledge that will allow me to succeed at Livea and any position I come across in the future.
