Amanda Clarke
Deputy Head, Nursing and Healthcare Education
I joined the Faculty in 2005 having started my nursing career as a student with the then Wirral School of Nursing in 1987. My last role in practice was as a Senior Theatre Practitioner in Post-anaesthesia Care and Clinical Skills Facilitator (ODP Education).
Within the Faculty I am the Deputy Head of the Department of Acute Adult Care. Previously I have assumed the roles of Deputy Director of Pre-registration Nursing, and Deputy and Acting Head of the Department of Acute Adult and Child Care. I am looking forward to continuing my involvement with the Faculty in its current and future provision.
Currently I am the programme leader for students completing the BA(Hons) Health and Social Care programme. I also contribute to the BN(Hons) programme as module leader, together with supervising students undertaking the dissertation module as part of the Masters in Public Health programme.
My areas of research interest include the induction and mentoring of academic and professional services staff in higher education, together with the effectiveness of teaching and learning strategies on the academic achievement of student nurses, and finally the transition of students into higher education.
