My nursing career commenced working for the local council in nursing care homes for the elderly and residential homes for children with learning disabilities.

I qualified as an Adult Nursing at the University of Chester Arrowe Park Site and worked in Haematology and HDU.

I completed my Specialist Community Public Health Nurse – HV training at Chester University in 2007 and initially worked on public health initiatives in occupational health.

I worked as a Health Visitor in both Chester and Wirral, working in a variety of areas with varying socio-economic groups, which included a high level of safeguarding and mental health issues.  I then worked with the Family Nurse Partnership (FNP), an intensive, self-efficacy parenting programme for teenage families.  I was also the student education lead, training lead and taught on the FNP Knowledge and Skills Exchange, which encouraged me to make a career change and become a lecturer.
