Learning Disability Nursing BN (Hons)

"I enjoy being able to learn from tutors and mentors, as it enhances my learning. The resources that are available to me as a student nurse are so valuable and I feel privileged that I will be a Learning Disability Nurse."
I decided that I wanted to become a nurse, as I have a passion for working and caring for others. I was inspired by family members to study as nurse, as I wanted to follow in their footsteps. I have worked with people with learning disabilities, and decided that I wanted to start my journey as a Learning Disability Nurse.
I have always lived in Chester, as it is my hometown I feel that it is special to me. I am especially looking forward to graduating in the Cathedral, as this is a special place to me and my family. Chester is a pretty city, which I thoroughly enjoy spending my time in.
I love studying the Learning Disability Nursing course at the Riverside Campus. The library holds resources for nursing students.
I enjoy the course as the workload is split between theory and practice, which enables me to relate the knowledge from teaching hours into practice whilst on placement. I enjoy being able to learn from tutors and mentors, as it enhances my learning. The resources that are available to me as a student nurse are so valuable and I feel privileged that I will be a Learning Disability Nurse. The guest speakers that the University bring into our sessions are also valued, as they bring a variety of knowledge from practice which enhances our thinking.
Once I am qualified, I would love to have the opportunity to enhance my learning and complete a Masters degree. However that is a long term goal, and for now I would like a job where I feel that my opinions are valued and I would love to make a difference however big or small to someone’s life.
