Programme Leader for MSc International BusinessAbdul is a committed and passionate lecturer with several years of experience in the academic world. He has a strong educational background and completed his Bachelor's in Computer Science and Master's in Management. He also completed an MPhil in sustainability, where his research focused on sustainability reporting and financial performance. Also, he is pursuing his PhD in sustainability reporting and financial performance, and the focus is on SMEs in northwest England.
As a Programme leader for MSc International Business, He believes his role is to inspire and motivate students to reach their full potential. He is committed to creating an inclusive and supportive learning environment that encourages students to engage with the subject matter and develop their critical thinking skills. He is also dedicated to staying up-to-date with the latest developments in his field to bring relevant and cutting-edge insights to the classroom.
Before joining the academic world as an entrepreneur and working in the service industry for 12 years, Abdul had diverse experiences that shaped his journey. Starting his own business in Liverpool was both exciting and daunting. He had to wear many hats and learn new skills quickly, from marketing and finance to operations and management. He faced many challenges along the way, but each hurdle taught him valuable lessons that helped him grow and develop as a business owner.
Abdul is a highly skilled and experienced lecturer with a strong background in teaching Research Methods, Launching Sustainable International businesses (BU7065), and supervising Master's Projects. With his extensive knowledge and expertise in these fields, he is committed to helping students develop the skills and knowledge they need to succeed in the academic and business worlds.
As a lecturer, Abdul is passionate about teaching research methods to students. He believes that research is a critical component of academic study and business development, and he is dedicated to helping students understand the research process from start to finish. He is skilled in teaching various research methods and techniques, including quantitative and qualitative research, data analysis, and academic writing. He is also committed to helping students develop research proposals and complete their research projects successfully.
As a supervisor of master's projects, Abdul is dedicated to helping students achieve their academic goals. He is supportive, encouraging, and always available to provide guidance and feedback. He works closely with students to help them develop their research proposals, identify relevant literature, and complete their projects on time and to a high standard.
Abdul's research interest in sustainability focuses on the relationship between sustainability reporting and financial performance. He is specifically interested in exploring the impact of sustainability reporting on the financial performance of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in northwest England. His research aims to contribute to understanding the potential benefits and challenges of sustainability reporting for SMEs and identify best practices for integrating sustainability into their business strategies. Abdul hopes to promote sustainable practices and help SMEs achieve long-term financial success through his research while contributing to a more sustainable future.
Abdul's research interest also extends to the different sustainability reporting frameworks that exist in the corporate world. He is keen on exploring the various frameworks that companies adopt to report their sustainability performance and their impact on financial performance. His research aims to identify the most effective and efficient sustainability reporting frameworks that can be adopted by small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the northwest of England. He believes that by understanding the different frameworks like GRI, CDP, SASB, SDGs, ISSB, and TCFD, SMEs can choose the most appropriate one that suits their business model and aligns with their sustainability goals. Through his research, Abdul hopes to promote sustainable practices in SMEs, specifically in the UK's manufacturing sector.
