Dr Anna Sung
Programme Leader for MSc FinTech and Business Analytics
Dr Anna Sung is a Senior Lecturer in Accounting and Finance in the Faculty of Science, Business and Enterprise. She also serves as assessment officer and partner link tutor. She is active in both teaching and research activities, with particular interest and passion on technology and digital transformation. Her current interest is on Large Language Models in the Artificial Intelligence realm. Other than working at the University, she is also a Trustee and Chapter Member at the Chester Cathedral.
She has developed a MSc Fintech and Business Analytics degree together with Prof. Kelvin Leong which is now in the validation stage. Some features of the degree include to expose students to real-world financial & economic datasets using Alpha Vantage API (https://www.alphavantage.co).
As a Fellow of Higher Education Academy, Anna has solid international higher education experience. She has worked for Universities in both Hong Kong and the UK. Moreover, she served as academic links for partners located in various countries, such as Singapore, Malaysia, Brunei and Sri Lanka.
Anna joined the University of Chester in January 2019. Her current research interests include Financial Technology (FinTech), innovation management, data mining and behavioural data analytics. She has been invited as reviewer for textbooks in various field, such as quantitative methods and innovation management. Before joining the University of Chester, she was the programme leader of the UK’s first undergraduate degree dedicated to FinTech and was the Founding Centre Lead of the FinTech Innovation Centre at Glyndwr University.
Dr Anna Sung has diverse experience in teaching. At the University of Chester, she has taught modules related to accounting, finance, technology, global business, strategic management. She also supervise students on research projects from undergraduate, taught postgraduate to doctoral level.

Dr Anna Sung's research span across various disciplines including Artificial Intelligence, Financial Technology, Educational Technology, Microlearning, Multimedia Learning, User Experience, Behavioural Data Analytics. She is ranked the second in the field of microlearning on Google Scholar. She has experience of using quantum computer in her research team with Prof. Kelvin Leong and published probably the first quantum computing related article in business. She is now active in implementing Large Language Models in different area such as education, finance and business.
