Fiona Warburton
LecturerFiona joined the University of Chester’s Business School part time in September 2019 and is a Senior Lecturer and Programme Leader for BA Hons Events and Festivals Management at University Centre Shrewsbury. She has worked in education and assessment for more than 30 years, with a specific focus on curriculum planning and assessment design in Travel and Tourism, and has worked with Ministries of Education and Tourism to deliver teacher training in Lesotho, Mauritius, the Maldives and Singapore. Fiona is a Principal Examiner and Lead Trainer with Cambridge, with responsibility for assessments in Destination Marketing and Place Branding. She has co-authored several textbooks on Travel and Tourism for Cambridge qualifications. Fiona taught Business and Travel and Tourism with a specialism in Marketing in Secondary and Further Education before joining the University of Chester.
Fiona also works part time in the Guildhall Library at UCS, as Assistant Liaison Librarian supporting the Business Management, Business Management with Psychology and Sport Management students and their lecturers with information literacy and literature searching for assignments.

Fiona has a research interest in Fake News and Generative AI, and is currently involved in promoting gamification to raise student awareness of AI in academic research, writing two short articles for JSTOR Daily.
