Ashley first joined the University of Chester in 2015 as an Undergraduate student, where he graduated with a Cybersecurity BSc(Hons) (First class) degree, before later completing and graduating from his MSc in Advanced Computer Science (Distinction).

Ashley is a Lecturer in Computer Science teaching at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. He leads the Foundations of Cybersecurity, Conducting Cybercrime Investigations, Research Methods and Penetration Testing and Active Defence modules. He also supervises a number of dissertations at undergraduate and postgraduate level. Ashley is also the programme leader for the newly introduced MSc Applied Artificial Intelligence programme.
