Dr Andrew Fogg
Senior LecturerAndrew is a Senior lecturer in Chemistry and Chemical Engineering in the School of Natural Sciences and deputy program lead for the SIPPE apprenticeships.
Teaching interests are broad and cover a wide range of chemistry and chemical engineering disciplines but particularly inorganic and physical chemistry topics. STEM Outreach is also important and sessions including the Magic of Chemistry, fuels cells and spectroscopy works shops are regularly delivered and an A-level revision course is organised each Easter.
Research is centred around inorganic materials chemistry with a strong focus on environmental projects. Current projects are looking at turning waste from green processes e.g. carbon capture and geothermal energy into usable, commercial products including energy storage materials and plaster/cement products. A wide range of synthetic and analytical techniques e.g. X-ray diffraction and electron microscopy are used.
