Dr Rachel Francoeur
Senior Lecturer
Rachel is a field epidemiologist, specializing in disease surveillance, host-pathogen interactions, and treatment efficacy. Her responsibilities include using minimally invasive sampling techniques and molecular-based assays to assess disease control effectiveness, health impacts, and prevention strategies. By integrating One Health approaches into her teaching practices, students are equipped with the skills necessary to address complex health challenges at the interface of animal, environment and human domains.
Teaching interests are One Health, Epidemiology, Public Health, zoonoses, disease transmission, treatment and prevention and control methods.
As a field epidemiologist with a focus on disease patterns and transmission dynamics, Rachel’s research interests include zoonotic diseases, mechanisms of disease transmission, spillover events, and host-pathogen interactions. She has a strong interest in strengthening collaborative efforts within the framework of a One Health approach and enhancing monitoring and surveillance methodologies.
