What is your name and what are you studying?

My name is Ahmet and I am studying BSc Microbiology.

Why did you enter Clearing?

I entered Clearing due to being a grade out of the requirements of my other chosen university.

What factors made you finally settle on the course you chose?

I had spoken with my teachers at college and decided, due to my particular interest in certain aspects of biology, that Microbiology would be an appropriate course for me. I had also spoken with lecturers from the University of Chester when visiting on a Clearing Visit Day which provided me with in-depth detail about my course, confirming that Microbiology was the right choice for me.

Did you attend a Clearing Visit Day and, if so, how was it?

The Clearing Visit Day allowed me to understand fully how the University of Chester would aid me with my studies and allow me to find and create my own success. Additionally, a whole campus tour and laboratory tour ensured I knew the University had the facilities for both the educational and social aspects of university life. Overall, the University of Chester's Clearing Visit Day provided me with the comfort I needed after a stressful results day and quelled my anxiety about not being 'good enough' for university.

Did you find a place to live easily?

Yes, as in addition to the on-campus accommodation provided directly by the University, there are also a number of partner accommodations endorsed by the University. I had the chance to speak to representatives of accommodation on the Clearing Visit Day and was shown around the available accommodation, which allowed me to sort my living arrangements on the same day.

Have you enjoyed your course and time at uni?

I have enjoyed my time at University, as I have met many friends through my course as well as through the student ambassador scheme and the various societies hosted by other students. This has allowed me to broaden my friendship group beyond my year and course. Also, the numerous opportunities to provide feedback on lectures, modules and my course as a whole has ensured that I am in control of my education and have the necessary resources and teaching to achieve the best results possible.
