Living in Tramways Accommodation
Find out more about living at our Tramways partnership accommodation with this blog from Student Ambassador Yana.
I moved to the Tramways partnership accommodation five months ago and I don’t have a single complaint! Tramways is ranked within Chester’s top three rated student accommodations, and I believe it really has earned its title. Here are a few of the reasons student life at Tramways is easy and entertaining!
Convenient Location
I’d argue that Tramways has one of the best locations when it comes to student accommodation in the city. Positioned opposite Chester train station, Tramways is just a quick ten-minute walk to the centre of town, where all of the essentials can be found.
Depending on which site your course is based at, you may want to enquire about the distance between your potential accommodation and where you’ll be travelling to, but Tramways has a really fantastic location. It’s a simple 20-minute walk from Exton Park and a 25-minute walk from Kingsway, Creative Campus, and buses leave the nearby bus interchange every 15 minutes heading in that direction if you don’t fancy the walk!
For grocery shopping, Tesco is my go-to. It’s just a 10-minute walk away (if you know the shortcuts!). While it’s a task on rainy days, a 30-minute walk along the canal to Aldi and Home Bargains can be a breath of fresh air when the sun is shining. There are also quite a few corner shops in the vicinity for those daily essentials.
Spacious Rooms and Communal Areas
Tramways has gone above and beyond with the quality of their accommodation. There are six different types of rooms available: three types of en-suite and three studio options. Each varies in space and price but they are all worth the money. For example, I’m staying in a Bronze En-suite, the cheapest room available on site, but I find the room spacious, even more than my room back home, and I have a lovely view of the grassy areas outside. I share a living area with five others but there’s loads of space for us to cook together in the kitchen.
For those times when you just want to escape your room for a bit, Tramways has a common area for socialising and meeting new people. It contains a TV with a collection of movies and even a PS4 for gamers out there. There’s a pool table and plenty of places to sit. This is where many social events occur throughout the year.
Events
The Tramways team plan many social events throughout the year including ‘Freshers’ events. I remember my first week staying here, there was so much going on. From a social ‘party scene’ in the common area to welcome events at the reception, I was never bored.
Recently, the team were giving away pancake ingredients for Pancake Day and there was a Valentine’s Day treasure hunt for teddies. Movie and quiz nights are quite a common occurrence here so there’s basically something for everyone! If you fancy catching up on all the past events, take a look at Tramways on Instagram.
