Bob’s Beginning

Bob shook his hair out of his eyes, then swept it up into a small bun on the crown of his head.
          ‘Let’s see …’ he murmured to himself, focussing on the project on his work table. He held up a candle to throw some light on the surface. There seemed to be some kind of reptilian growth on it, just in patches.
          ‘Ew!’ He dropped the candle and a globule of wax splattered onto the sphere.
          Ah.
          Shit.
          Oh, well, that seemed to have sorted it.
          Later, he checked it again. Small furry creatures were everywhere. Mammals, this time, apparently …
