Biography

Alex Modder started her career in social work in 1989 working in Children's Residential Care. Alex progressed to working in referred Family Centres conducting parenting risk assessments. Alex Modder qualified as a Social Worker in 1998. Since then she has worked in a number of settings mainly in the Voluntary sector: *Project Worker based in Drug and Alcohol Services. *Manager of a Family Intervention Project. *Manager of a Teenage Pregnancy support service. *Manager of a Children's Fund project delivering family support services in communities. *Manager of targeted family support in Children's Centres. *Manager of NSPCC Service Centres delivering child protection and early intervention services to children and young people, parents/carers and Foster carers.

Teaching and Supervision

Alex Modder works on the BA Social Work programme and modules.

Research and Knowledge Exchange

Alex Modder is passionate about the following areas: Child Sexual Exploitation. Harmful Sexual Behaviour. Kinship/family and friends care. Involvement of the extended family in supporting children when they are in the child protection system. (in light of recent Safeguarding Child Reviews). Neglect.
