Biography
Associate Professor Bernadine Murray is Head of School for the Creative Industries. She joined the University of Chester in 2007 with a background in Fine Art, Multimedia and Graphic Design. Her creative industry experience includes: freelance graphic design; in-house graphic design; front and back end software development for educational games; graphic illustration and community arts.
Teaching and Supervision
Whilst at UoC, Associate Professor Murray has taught across Undergraduate Graphic Design and Masters in Design and currently contributes to Level 6 Graphic Design. Previous teaching roles include, contextual studies, interactive multimedia, new media, graphic communication.
Research and Knowledge Exchange
Her creative practice explores a number of themes relating to meditative drawing practice, the tension and transition between internal and external narratives and landscapes, embodiment, impermanence, liminal space and metacognition. Additional research activity explores: art and design pedagogy, including the current and future role of social media within art and design education, investigating the barriers to creativity and role of meditative drawing practices in the development of creative resilience, user-centred, user experience design and human computer interaction.
