Biography
Cate joined Chester University as a Lecturer in Acute Adult Care in November 2023 based at their Shrewsbury campus. Previous lecturing includes guest lecturing experience teaching 2nd year Medical Students at Bangor University and Post Graduate students at Staffordshire University on Diabetes Management. Prior to securing a post at Chester University Cate has worked as a Diabetes Specialist Nurse for 10 years and a Clinical Research Nurse Specialist for 2 years. Cate has nursing experience across a variety of clinical environments including community, research facility and leading on diabetes and cardiovascular care in a general practice.
Teaching and Supervision
Cate is module lead for three modules across both the Trainee Nurse Associate Program and the Pre-Registration Nurse Program. These include Applied Sciences, Medicines Management and Practice Learning. Cate also assists with simulation practice days. Cate has recently completed the TALENT programme and hopes to commence the PG Certificate course in Education in September 2024.
Research and Knowledge Exchange
Cate has previous experience of leading on clinical research trials in the areas of diabetes and cardiology. Cate was also heavily involved in the COVID19 Vaccine trials that took place during the pandemic. Cate would like to move her research interests into the area of nurse education in the future.
