Deborah Forrest
Senior Lecturer
Biography
I teach in ITE across the BA (QTS) and PGCE programmes, in both Primary and Early Years. I mainly teach my specialist subjects; Art & Design and Design Technology, as well as other professional development modules. I work as a University Based Teacher Educator Mentor (UBTEM) for our Associate Teachers on School Based Learning. I supervise students undertaking undergraduate research.
Teaching and Supervision
Before arriving at the University of Chester in 2021 as a Senior Lecturer, I was invited to work as a visiting lecturer for 3 academic years, teaching Early Years – Primary Art & Design for post-graduate students. Having qualified as a teacher from the University of Chester, I enjoyed teaching in a Chester school for 19 years. I worked in a Church of England primary school teaching across Key Stage One and Key Stage Two and holding subject responsibilities for Art & Design, Design Technology and Religious Education and I was one of the Designated Safeguarding Officers. I was selected to participate in two opportunities of Teachers International Professional Development in Jamaica and Canada. This involved visiting a variety of schools, collating information and reporting findings to their Education Boards and senior leaders in education.
