Biography

Professor of Design Thinking and senior lecturer in Product Design. Responsible for relationships with internal partners and external communities where design thinking approached and processes can add value to research and society.

Teaching and Supervision

Lecturer and module leader within product design. Lecturer on Masters courses focused on design process and design thinking approaches. Second supervisor with design orientated PhD students.

Research and Knowledge Exchange

Personal: development of an archive of design drawings and related material as a resource for research: Drawing out Loud documents why designers draw and the role of drawing within design. Collaboration: with other parts of the university - interests in ageing populations, new and sustainable materials and material systems and promoting design thinking as a key support for research. Building evidence of impact of cultural interventions within the community. Boundary between digital and analogue making.
