Dr Emma Arya-manesh

Biography
Dr Emma Arya-Manesh is one of the Co-directors of the Centre for Research into Education, Creativity and Arts through Practice (RECAP) and a Senior Researcher in the School of Education. She has undertaken research and evaluations across diverse settings, including art galleries, cultural and arts-based organisations, children’s centres, youth groups, universities, and schools. Dr Arya-Manesh has secured external funding from local authorities, charities, and (inter)national learned societies. She is also an experienced editor, holding the position of Editorial Manager for the International Journal of Art & Design Education (iJADE). Separately, Dr Arya-Manesh is an Associate Editor for COMPARE: A Journal of Comparative and International Education.
Teaching and Supervision
Dr Arya-Manesh supervises and supports doctorate students in the School of Education. She is also the co-leader for two Doctor of Education modules - Cultural Practices (PR8008) and Thesis (PR8009).
Research and Knowledge Exchange
Dr Arya-Manesh undertakes qualitative research focusing on creative arts practices in teaching, pedagogy and learning. She has a particular interest in creative pedagogies for peacebuilding.
