Fran Clipperton
Senior Lecturer
Biography
Fran joined the University of Chester Midwifery lecturing team in January 2020 and is currently the BSc Midwifery Programme Lead and a Senior lecturer in the team. Previous to this role, she worked as a registered midwife providing all aspects of midwifery care to women and families in hospital and community settings. Fran also provided care for women & families as an NHS Newborn Infant Physical Examination (NIPE) practitioner and as a Maternity acupuncturist. Previous extensive commercial career provided Fran with a wealth of useful transferable skills.
Teaching and Supervision
Fran is a Sernior Lecturer on the BSc Midwifery programme. She is currently the module leader for BSc Midwifery Level 4 Anatomy and Physiology Applied to the Childbirth Continuum; Level 5 Complexity of Newborn Care; Level 6 Governance Driving Maternity Services and joint module leader for Level 6 Critical Perspectives in Maternity Care. She also enjoys teaching supporting infant feeding across the BSc Midwifery programme and skills sessions with all 3 cohorts. Fran is also the academic assessor linked to Warrington hospital.
Research and Knowledge Exchange
Fran is passionate about provision of holistic and compassionate midwifery care to families, facilitating effective infant feeding and supporting perinatal mental health.
