Biography

Dr Grace Smith is a Senior Lecturer in Sports and Exercise Biomechanics at the University of Chester. She teaches extensively on the BSc Sport and Exercise Sciences programme as well as the MSc Sport and Exercise Sciences programmes. Grace is an experienced researcher in clinical and sports biomechanics and research methods using quantitative research methods.

Teaching and Supervision

Dr Grace Smith is an experienced lecturer, having taught sports biomechanics over a number of years. She is currently module leader for level 4, 5 and 6 Biomechanics modules on the BSc Sports and Exercise Sciences programme and also contributes to research methods modules on both undergraduate and postgraduate SES programmes, as well as Sports Medicine modules. She supervises undergraduate dissertations and has supervised several MSc and doctoral students.

Research and Knowledge Exchange

Dr Grace Smith's research has predominantly focussed on the Biomechanics of sports performance, foot function and the role of footwear design. She has also published on both clinical aspects of Biomechanics and sports injury. Her current research interests focus on landing mechanics and their associations with sports injury mechanisms, as well as movement variability, asymmetry and measurement techniques in Biomechanics.
