Biography
I am a behavioural ecologist with a particular focus on responses of wildlife to anthropogenic impact and the practical applications in conservation. I also spend time working in industry as an ecological consultant.
Teaching and Supervision
I currently teach on a variety of BSc and MSc modules focussing on Animal Behaviour and Welfare topics as well as research skills subjects and I most enjoy supervising a range of student projects working on investigating behaviour in both captive and wild animals.
Research and Knowledge Exchange
My MSc research focussed on movement ecology of big cats in Namibia and I have also spent some time on working on bird-focussed projects. Having then specialised in research on bats, I have been developing a long-term research and conservation project since 2015 on bat species in Zambia, part of which has formed my PhD which looks at bats using agricultural landscapes. I also have an interest in wildlife in urban landscapes, especially where human-wildlife interactions can cause concern.
