Dr Holly White

Biography

Holly's primary areas of expertise are held in a range of cognate areas including social harm and social justice, public social science, co-production and the community sector, leadership, knowledge exchange, the civic value of higher education, and inclusive education. Holly is Head of Social and Political Sciences at the University of Chester. Holly holds a range of research and knowledge exchange roles that reflect her expertise. Holly is a member of the University’s Social Justice Chester Research group and the University’s Institute of Culture and Society. Holly is a trustee of Cheshire West Voluntary Action with responsibilities for research and strategic partnerships. Holly is a Civic Leader member of the Cheshire West and Chester Local Authority Poverty Truth Advisory Board. Holly has previously volunteered as a Board Member of the Trussell Trust Changing Minds on Poverty Board, utilising her research and voluntary experience to inform the organisation’s national strategy on public sense-making of poverty. Holly holds a PhD in Social Science, a Master's in Business Administration, a Postgraduate Certificate in Teaching in Higher Education, and is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.

Teaching and Supervision

Dr Holly White is module leader for Undergraduate Dissertations in SPS. Holly is also developing a new experiential learning module. Holly also supervises PhD students.

Dr Holly White’s areas of research and teaching expertise include: - Social Harm and Social Justice - Narratives of Crisis, Harm and Injustice - Co-production - Innovative Methodologies - Poverty and Food Insecurity - The Community Sector and Community Action - Public Social Science and University Civic Engagement Social Justice Chester is currently collaborating with local community partners using co-productive methodology to explore: 1.
