Julie Bailey-mchale
Associate Dean, Teaching and Learning
Biography
Julie is the Associate Dean (Education and Student Experience) in the Faculty of Health, Medicine and Society at the University of Chester, UK. In her role Julie provides strategic leadership across the faculty in the areas of quality, student experience and pedagogy. She works closely with the three Heads of School ensuring the University Education Plan and other learning, teaching and assessment initiatives are actioned and embedded across all provision. Julie is an experienced academic and has a strong background in the pedagogy of practice learning. Julie is a mental health nurse with a Masters in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy specialising in working with people who experience psychosis.
Teaching and Supervision
Julie’s teaching interests are varied and include mental health and illness, diversity and equality and the nature of education in professional health and social care programmes. Julie is a Senior Fellow of Advance HE.
Research and Knowledge Exchange
Julie has an interest in practice learning and supporting students to translate practice experience into learning. She has led various small research teams exploring the experience of learning in practice, some of these projects have used visual methodology and a mixed methods approach.
