Biography
Jess is a registered Children's and Specialist Community Public Health Nurse. She has worked for the National Health Service as a Health Visitor with special interest in working with families living in areas of deprivation. Jess was spurred to move to education by the instrumental role she took in delivering training across the health board, and has been lecturing in higher education since 2020.
Teaching and Supervision
Jess currently teaches across the Master of Public Health, Specialist Community Public Health Nursing, and undergraduate Nursing programmes. She especially enjoys the opportunity to supervise Masters students in developing their study for their dissertation.
Research and Knowledge Exchange
Jess is interested in Public Health research, particularly in understanding the social determinants of health and reducing inequalities. She has undertaken a mixed-studies systematic review exploring the experience of mothers who ceased breastfeeding early. As well as public health research, Jess is also keen to further understand the underpinnings of research processes themselves.
