Dr Jean Evers

Biography

Dr Jean Evers is currently the Deputy Head of Public Health, Sport and Wellbeing Division. Jean has worked in Higher Education since 2004, she has also worked within a wide range of NHS acute and public health settings. She is an NMC Adult registered nurse, a nurse prescriber and a Specialist Community Public Health Nurse- Health Visiting registrant, Jean has been involved in professional education which has always been important to her both personally and professionally, Jean also has a keen interest in supporting inter-professional practice learning. As a Ward sister Jean managed and was responsible for staff development to ensure excellent patient outcomes.During this time Jean developed an interest in post registration education. Jean commenced a Health visiting career, working within a range of community settings supporting Post registration and Medical students in practice learning. Jean then moved into a Higher Education practice development role to continue her passion in developing others which included quality assurance of practice learning, teaching undergraduate nursing students, post registration students and postgraduate health visiting students. Jean has undertaken a variety of roles in Higher Education most recently Head of Department for Public Health and Well-being before retiring and returning part time as Deputy Head of Public Health, Sport and Wellbeing Division.

Teaching and Supervision

Jean's teaching interests are undergraduate and post graduate nursing, public health, community nursing, leadership and prescribing. Jean also has experience of supervision for PhD, Doctorate and MPH students.

Research and Knowledge Exchange

Jean's research experience is mainly in qualitative research approaches, with a particular focus on action research and co-operative enquiry exploring staff development and organisational culture. Jean has been successful in winning external competitive tenders and has also led funded research projects with the Department of Health and Higher Education Academy.
