James Flower
Senior Software Engineer
Biography
James Flower is a Senior Software Engineer in the School of Computer and Engineering Sciences within the Faculty of Science, Business and Enterprise at the University of Chester. He works inside the Informatics Centre develpoing web and mobile applications for stakeholders internal and external to the University of Chester. He is also part of the team within the Faculty of Science, Business and Enterprise which maintians specialist IT infrastructure for use in the delivery of programmes and material.
Teaching and Supervision
James provides specialist lectures to students on the Software Engineering programme, specifically in relation to Software Testing and Deployment methodologies, ensuring students are exposed to industry best practices and tools. James is also a mentor on the Experiential Learning module, where students have the option to work in the Informatics Centre for 6 weeks to produce software products for commercial and non-commercial clients whilst being mentored by staff within the Informatics Centre.
Research and Knowledge Exchange
James is not directly engaged with research, however, the Informatics Centre help to build software solutions for research studies and support other academic research in this way. James has contributed to the successful development of numerous software and web applications being utilised by businesses with interests in various fields. James also develops in-house solutions for the Faculty of Science, Business & Enterprise, and other professional and academic areas within the institution.
