Biography
I started my career in Health Promotion. My roles have included being a WHO Healthy Cities Team Leader in Greenwich, Programme Co-ordinator for a Government Health Action Zone in Wolverhampton and the Manager of a Health Promotion Department in the NHS. I am also an experienced educator with over 17 years experience of teaching Health and Social Care and Public Health in schools, Further and Higher Education.
Teaching and Supervision
I am the Programme lead for the Doctorate in Public Health. I teach public health and research at all levels, from level 4 to level 8. I am a doctoral primary supervisor.
Research and Knowledge Exchange
I am a qualitative researcher with a sociological perspective on Public Health and policy. My research area is feminist theory. I am interested in gendered perspectives on health, health policy and the representation of women in the media. I have an interest in Foucauldian theory and discourse analysis. As a Public Health Practitioner I specialised in health policy and strategy, and the WHO settings approach to schools, workplaces and cities.
