Dr Kelly Gouveia

Biography

Kelly Gouveia is a Senior lecturer in Animal Welfare Science at the University of Chester. She is the current programme leader for our BSc in Animal Behaviour and Welfare. She teaches on the Bioveterinary Science programme in animal health and welfare related modules, as well as on the MSc in Animal Behaviour, where she is module leader for Animal Welfare and Ethics. She is also one of the assessment officers for the school of natural sciences, where she oversees strategic assessment and feedback across all programmes, and is responsible for departmental implementation and improvement of assessment practices, along with implementing academic integrity policies across the school.

Research and Knowledge Exchange

Her research interests include general animal health and welfare related issues in animals. She specialises in laboratory animal handling and welfare and has a keen interest in animal welfare at slaughter and during pre-slaughter operations.
