Biography

I am a Part Time Senior Lecturer working one day a week in the FHSC. I teach on the Advance Practice MSc and lead on modules NM7264 & NM7265. I qualified as an RMN in 2007 from University of Birmingham. I completed my Non-Medical Prescribing here at Chester University in 2014 and my MSc in Advanced Clinical Practice again here at Chester in 2021. I currently work 3 days a week in clinical practice as the Lead Advanced Clinical Practitioner at HMP Styal. I live with my partner in Chester City Centre and we have 3 children between us. In my spare time I enjoy walking, travelling, swimming and spending quality time with friends and family.

Teaching and Supervision

I have been teaching on the MSc Advanced Clinical Practice at Chester University since 2021. A large part of my role as lead ACP at HMP Styal involves mentoring and educating junior staff. I am also the DMP for two of our clinical managers who are currently undertaking their NMP. Whilst in general practice I ran educational seminars to trainee GPs and medical students around the treatment and assessment of mental health conditions within Primary Care.

Research and Knowledge Exchange

Prior to working as the Lead ANP at HMP Styal I worked for several years as an ANP in general practice in Warrington, whilst there I conducted a piece of research as part of my MSc looking at patient views of advanced practitioners and the value and advantages they bring to modern day healthcare. I also have a keen interest in Safer Custody and drug and alcohol misuse amongst the prison population and I would very much like to carry out some research around this when time allows!
