Senior Lecturer
Biography
Leanne Mee is a Senior lecturer in Design and Technology within the School of Education in the Faculty of Arts. Humanities and Social Sciences. She is the PGCE Secondary Design and Technology subject lead and also supports in delivering on the Primary programmes for Art and Design and Technology. Leanne has an extensive background in teaching and leading Design and Technology since 2002, securing a National Professional Qualification on Senior Leadership for bringing about sustainable changes to STEM education across the Academy and local community. in addition to her role at the University Leanne runs her own educational consultancy business providing training and provision to improve the quality of provision for Design and Technology and STEM in schools. She works with a number of organisations to include: The Design and Technology Association as a consultant, Shropshire Council, Telford and Wrekin Council, Wolverhampton Council, she runs a number of funded initiatives to include a programme for The Royal Academy of Engineering, a programme funded by The Manufacturing Group and various other initiatives.
Teaching and Supervision
Leanne currently teaches on the following programmes in Initial Teacher Education focussing on teaching Design and Technology and Art and Design. PGCE Primary BA QTS PGCE Secondary Leanne also leads on the Secondary Programme for Design and Technology.
Research and Knowledge Exchange
The place and value of Design and Technology education within the UK Research interests include the place and value that Design and Technolgogy and Engineering education currenly has within the uk particulary. Leanne collaborates with the wider Design and Technology community to engage with this particular area of interests, currently volunteers on behalf of the Deisgn and Technology Association, supporting their subject consultation group, reflecting and feeding back on the work that is currently being done on shaping D&T education. Also working with colleagues from Liverpool John Moore, Nottingham Trent University and St Marys University in developing a wider UK network for Design and Technology teacher educators to share their work and research around the provision and delivery of D&T nationally and internationally.
