Biography
Dr Luke Jones is a senior lecturer in physical education. He finished his first degree in Sports Science at what was then known as Chester College in 1994. After completing his post-graduate teacher training at Cardiff, he worked as a secondary physical education teacher and a Head of Department for ten years. He then moved into higher education and taught at Liverpool John Moores University before returning to Chester in 2007. In his current role, he works with secondary associate teachers in the School of Education and also with physical education students in the Department of Sport and Exercise Sciences. He is the subject leader for physical education and programme leader for the PGCert in Coaching and Mentoring programme.
Teaching and Supervision
Dr Luke Jones has taught undergraduate students in the Department of Sport and Exercise Sciences and postgraduate students in the School of Education. He also works with established teachers as part of the Childhood, Education, and Professional Development team - he supervises doctoral students and leads the PG Certificate in Coaching and Mentoring.
Research and Knowledge Exchange
Dr Luke Jones is interested in research in three main areas: 1. Mentoring and coaching in physical education 2. Professional learning and practitioner research 3. Teaching and learning in physical education, health and school sport
