Dr Michelle Cordingley
Senior Lecturer; University Innovation Fellow
Biography
Michelle is a University Innovation Fellow within the Centre for Academic Innovation and Development and a Senior Lecturer within Chester Medical School. In her UIF role, Michelle provides leadership for educational change and the enhancement of academic practice at School, Faculty and University levels. Michelle is the Co-ordinator of the Teaching International Students Special Interest Group and is currently developing the University of Chester 'Authentic Assessment guide'. Michelle has previous experience leading the MSc Biomedical Science programme and currently supports the learning of students across the undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in Medical Science.
Teaching and Supervision
Michelle is involved in teaching on a range of undergraduate and postgraduate biomedical /medical science modules She is the module leader for MD4010 Professional Skills for Life Sciences I and MD7004 Current Issue in Biomedical Science. Michelle's teaching portfolio includes: cell biology, cancer biology, evidence based medicine, biomedical science practice, haematology and professional skills.
Research and Knowledge Exchange
Michelle's research explores the complex mechanisms of cell signalling, with a specific emphasis on the mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK) and protein kinase (PI3K-Akt) pathways, particularly in the context of cancer cell death. Additionally, she has a pedagogical interest in enhancing students' learning and confidence through the use of digital teaching tools and online digital pre-lab activities.
