Michael Parsons

Biography
Prior to entering Higher Education I enjoyed a twenty five year career in the police service, retiring in the rank of Detective Constable. My police career, which saw me serving the diverse community of Merseyside, focused predominantly in relation to Intelligence gathering and the practice and management of covert investigations into counter terrorism, Organised Crime Groups and serious criminal investigation. For a period of time I was the Deputy Coordinator for the Joint Intelligence Group for the North of England. I was responsible with two colleagues for training and maintaining a cadre of 200 Police officers of all ranks to form a multi-agency intelligence cell in response to certain large scale terrorist incidents. This also involved training other agencies such as the Security Service and military units. I have experience as an external validation panel member and an external and internal academic panel member.
