Dr Meng Tong

Biography
Dr. Meng Tong joined the University of Chester in 2021 as a Lecturer in development economics for the Economics programme. Before joining the University of Chester, he worked as a postdoc and research fellow at the University of Birmingham and an associated lecturer at UCL. He is also a member of the Fellowship of the HEA (FHEA) and the Royal Statistical Society (RSS).
Teaching and Supervision
He teaches a series of undergraduate modules, including SO4002 Skills for Economics (with Dr Wasiu Are), SO4006 Sustainable Development, SO5001 Intermediate Micro and Macroeconomics, SO5005 Introduction to Econometrics, SO5006 Introduction to Finance, and SO6005 Environmental Economics. He also supervises students' final dissertations in Module SO6206.
Research and Knowledge Exchange
His research interests include spatial economics, international trade, financial economics, macroeconomic stability and climate econometrics. His academic outputs have been published in the Journal of Environmental Economics and Management, the Journal of Empirical Finance, the European Journal of Finance and the Review of Quantitative Finance and Accounting.
