Biography

Megan Twamley is a Senior Lecturer in the MSc Physician Associate course within the Faculty of Health, Medicine, and Society at the University of Chester. She is dedicated to training the next generation of healthcare professionals, delivering teaching across a range of subjects, including clinical and communication skills, within both the Physician Associate programme and other faculty-wide courses. Megan is committed to ensuring students develop the knowledge, skills, and confidence necessary for success in their clinical practice. In addition to her academic role, Megan is a fully qualified Physician Associate, actively practicing in the Emergency Department. Her dual role as both an educator and clinician allows her to bring real-world medical experience into her teaching, bridging the gap between theory and practice. She is particularly passionate about enhancing clinical training and mentoring students, preparing them for the fast-paced and demanding nature of healthcare. Beyond her core teaching responsibilities, Megan holds a leadership position as the Block 5 Lead (Reproduction and Child Health) for the MBChB programme, overseeing curriculum development and ensuring high-quality education in this area of medical training. She is also involved in the Chester Medical School Ethics Committee, contributing to the ethical oversight of research within the institution. Additionally, Megan serves as a Postgraduate Disability Link Tutor, advocating for accessibility and inclusivity in higher education, ensuring that students with disabilities receive the necessary support to thrive. Her expertise extends beyond the university, as she plays a key role in national OSCE assessments. Megan is a National Examiner for the Royal College of Physicians’ Physician Associate National Exam (PANE), contributing to the evaluation of aspiring Physician Associates across the UK. This role highlights her dedication to maintaining high standards in medical education and professional competency.

Teaching and Supervision

Megan teaches across all Physician Associate MSc Modules and supervises dissertation students, as well as teaching across other level 7 modules in the university. She is the module leader for the following modules : MD7128 Value-Based Medicine for Physician Associates MD7129 Pharmacotherapeutics 1 MD7132 Advancing Clinical Medicine in Physician Associate Practice

Research and Knowledge Exchange

Megan is currently undertaking her PhD studies researching the introduction of telemedicine tools in primary care and the impact that they have on patients treatment and management.
