Biography

It’s an incredible privilege to join Chester Medical School as Interim Clinical Dean to support the development of the next generation of doctors. I graduated from Liverpool Medical School in 1998 and there have no doubt been many changes in medical education since then! I undertook surgical training in the Mersey region including spending 2 years working at the University of Liverpool where I was awarded an MD. Having completed surgical training, I spent a year in Toronto gaining specialist training in colorectal surgery before taking up a consultant surgeon post at the Countess of Chester Hospital in 2013. My career since then has taken me on an educational path both within the hospital and beyond. I was clinical subdean in the hospital for the University of Liverpool MB ChB programme for many years before taking on the role of Director of Medical Education. My educational work outside of the hospital has led me to working nationally and internationally on educational projects within the field of colorectal surgery. My support for the University of Liverpool and my extensive educational experience resulted in the award of the title Honorary Associate Clinical Professor by the University of Liverpool in 2022. I am delighted to now be able to support Chester as my local medical school, and my position as a clinician with extensive networks across the region and beyond puts me in a good position to do so. Please do feel free to reach out to me if I can help in any way.
