Biography
Following a long career in the NHS, Royal Air Force and various nursing and senior management roles I have developed expertise and a specialist interest in: mental health and physical illness; eLearning, informatics in health care, aviation nursing and nursing in austere environments. I have been a registered nurse for 40+ years and have held a number of nursing and non-nursing senior management posts in the NHS and private sector. I am currently a senior lecturer in nursing studies working part time, 2 days a week. I am also an external examiner for the MSc Health Informatics programme at the University of Central Lancashire (UCLAN).
Teaching and Supervision
During my career with the university I have had responsibility for leading and teaching various healthcare/clinical related modules and programmes, including health informatics. Currently I have teaching responsibilities for 2 modules on the MSc nursing programme (person centred care and applied sciences) and am involved with the Return to Practice programme as both academic assessor and personal academic tutor to mental health nurses returning to the profession and seeking to re-register with the NMC.
