Dr Nollaig McEvilly

Biography

Dr Nollaig McEvilly is a Senior Lecturer in the sociology of sport and exercise. She has worked at the University of Chester since 2013, and is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. Nollaig is currently Area Leader for the sociology of sport and exercise strand of the BSc (Hons) in Sport and Exercise Sciences, and Programme Leader for the MSc in Sociology of Sport, Health and Exercise. She has been the Editor of European Physical Education Review since December 2014 (having previously been the Assistant Editor).

Teaching and Supervision

Nollaig teaches across a wide range of undergraduate and postgraduate modules focused on the sociology of sport, exercise, health and physical education. She also contributes extensively to research methods modules at both BSc and MSc level, focusing in particular on qualitative research.

Research and Knowledge Exchange

Nollaig’s research interests broadly revolve around the sociology of physical education, physical activity, health and sport. She has published qualitative research on topics including preschool and primary physical education, the outsourcing of physical education, and pain and injury in sport and dance.
