Rachel Tree
Senior Lecturer
Biography
Rachel Tree is currently working as a Senior Midwifery Lecturer at the University of Chester. She qualified as a midwife in 2012 after studying at Sheffield Hallam University, then going on to start her first midwifery job working in St George's Hospital in London for the next 9 years. During this time she worked as a rotational midwife but most of her time was split between the Birth Centre and Delivery Suite. She then joined the HDU team providing care for birthing people with complex medical conditions. Alongside this role she joined the well established fetal monitoring team. In 2021 she moved to the Princess Royal Hospital in Telford working as both a Delivery Suite Co-ordinator and Lead Fetal Monitoring Midwife.
Teaching and Supervision
Rachel is currently teaching the Midwifery BSc course with the focus on simulation. Alongside the fetal monitoring team, Rachel designed and launched a fetal monitoring programme at the Princess Royal Hospital. This involved monthly study days taught to the MDT, weekly case studies, designing study days for international midwives and student midwives.
Research and Knowledge Exchange
Rachel has a keen interest in fetal monitoring and physiology in labour alongside maternal care in the high dependency setting.
