Dr Samantha Moss
Associate Professor
Biography
Sam holds practitioner status on the Sport and Exercise Nutrition register (SENr) and works as a nutrition consultant for the Gatorade Sports Science Institute, supporting professional female football players. She is currently supervising three PhD students in the areas of women's football, physiology and nutrition. Previously, Sam led the programme of sports science support for the England Handball Association. During this time, she completed her PhD which assessed the physical, physiological and performance characteristics of national team players. Assessment of congested training/match schedules and implementation of strategies to better manage loading, formed a key part of the thesis. Sam has successfully secured external funding, published numerous peer-reviewed articles, and supervised PhD students through to completion. She holds current external examiner roles and is regularly invited to review for a number of scientific journals, including Sports Medicine, Journal of Sports Sciences, Science and Medicine in Football, European Journal of Sports Sciences.
Teaching and Supervision
Sam has over ten years of teaching experience at undergraduate and postgraduate level.
